College is a constituent unit of the B. N. Inter College. Eminent faculty members from various Under Graduate Departments and the commerce Department engage classes regularly at B. N. Inter College. B. N. Inter College needs no introduction as its name is sufficient to reflect its image in the academic history of the country in general and Bihar in particular.


The College was founded on the 23 May 1983 and since then, it has been maintaining high tradition of imparting quality liberal education under the traditional faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The College has produced an infinite number of the great academicians, administrators, social thinkers, advocates and researchers. It has been the temple of learning during the last 120 years and that is why this is known as the mother of higher education in Eastern India.


The College has a great legacy and has been striving continuously to maintain and improve it. It has been the breeding ground for the future scientists, researchers and administrators. It can boast of distinguished alumni holding very high positions in diverse fields of Science, Medicine, Engineering, Banking, Administration, etc. in India and abroad

The area of the main campus of this premiere College is 7.71 and 2.95 acres, having well maintained roads, extensive greenery, a temple, an air strip and buildings which are an architectural delight.The college has five hostels that include Faraday House. Besides, there are two playgrounds, gymnasium and an administrative block, which houses the Principal’s Office, College Office, Main Library and Mathematics, English and Hindi Departments.


This block also has three big lecture-halls and many practice rooms. B. N. Inter College has twelve well equipped laboratories, which are located in Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Physics and Zoology Departments. Geology Department has four laboratories while each other department has two laboratories. The main College Library has a rich and varied collection of important books related to Science and Arts. It also has a large study hall. Other than the main library, there are independent libraries in each department, which contain books relevant to the departments.



The College offers B.Sc. Honours in Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology. Apart from the usual B.Sc. Honours courses, it also imparts teaching in various Vocational and Professional courses under self-financing scheme that include B.Sc. Honours in Bio-technology, B.Sc. Honours in Computer Applications – popularly known as the BCA course, B.Sc. Honours in Environmental Science.
